North Arkansas livestock auction reportThe North Arkansas Livestock Auction, Green Forest, Ark., reports receipts of 834 head May 7, compared to 1,050 head last week and 1,093 head last year, according to the Arkansas Extension Service-USDA Market News, Little Rock, Ark. Compared to last week, slaughter cows and bulls were $1 to $2 higher. Feeder steers under 600 pounds were nearly steady on a light test, over 600 pounds were steady to $4 higher. Feeder heifers were uneven, mostly steady to $5 higher. The supply included about 252 feeder calves, 428 yearlings, 55 replacement or feeder cows, 85 slaughter cows, 13 slaughter bulls, 1 replacement bulls. The feeder supply included about 63% over 600 pounds, 48% steers, 44% heifers, and 8% bulls. Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1000 to 1500 lbs., 57.00 to 62.00. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 950 to 1400 lbs., 52.00 to 54.00; high dressing, 54.00 to 61.75. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 900 to 1300 lbs., 47.00 to 52.00; high dressing, 53.00 to 60.00; low dressing, 42.50 to 44.00. Light, 85 to 92% lean, 700 to 950 lbs., 44.00 to 51.50. Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1000 to 2100 lbs., 60.00 to 67.00; high dressing, 67.00 to 72.00.
