Huron cattle market report

The Bales Continental Commission Co., Huron, S.D., reported receipts of 3,019 head May 6, compared to 2,594 head last week, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture market News, Sioux Falls, S.D.

Compared to last week feeder steers up to 900 pounds sold $3 to $6 higher, and steers over 900 pounds sold steady to $1.50 lower. Feeder heifers up to 700 pounds sold $1 to $3 lower, and heifers over 700 pounds sold steady to $2.50 higher. Demand was good with many load lots in the offering. Many good heifers went back out into the country for breeding programs. The offering was comprised of 50% steers, 50% heifers, with 89% over 500 pounds.
