"Hoof it to Havre" for Stockgrowers Mid-Year Summer MeetingMontana For the first time in years the Montana Stockgrowers Association will travel back to Havre for their Mid-Year Summer Meeting. The two-day "Hoof it to Havre" event will take place June 13 and 14. Stockgrowers and prospective members are encouraged to attend this important meeting. The Opening General Session will kick off in the morning June 13. Next be sure and attend the meetings from MSGA's four policy committees to voice your opinion, and share your ideas on how to make Montana's cattle industry better. Don't forget to stop by the trade show to visit vendors and learn the latest about new beef industry products and services. A workers compensation safety seminar will be held June 13 followed by the MSGA business session. In the evening June 13, a special Beef Quality Assurance team cattle handling and processing competition is scheduled for all MSGA members. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top four teams--$900 for first place, second place $500, third place $250, and fourth place $100. Everyone is invited out to Montana State University Northern Agricultural Research Center for the BQA competition, dinner, beverages and fun for all. "The BQA competition will help demonstrate some of the management practices that are becoming more important to everyone in the cattle industry as we continue to improve the quality and consistency of our beef," said Clint Peck, Montana BQA director. "Log on to the BQA website at www.mtbqa.org for details." June 14 will begin with a Ranch Tour or choose to play a round of golf at the Cow Pasture Scramble Golf Tournament at the Beaver Creek Golf Course. The Ranch Tour will showcase ranches in and around the Havre area. Later that night enjoy a relaxing dinner at the Beaver Creek Golf Course. Members and non-members are encouraged to attend all or part of the MSGA Mid Year Meeting. Everyone is welcome.
