Goldthwaite sheep sales

The Mills County Commission Co., Goldthwaite, Texas, May 2, reported receipts of 2,992 head of sheep and goats, compared to 2,601 head last week and 2,295 head last year, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, stocker and feeder lambs were not tested. Light weight slaughter lambs were $3 to $5 higher, heavy weights were steady. Stocker and feeder goats were not tested. Slaughter goats were $3 to $5 higher. Demand was good. The supply included around 40% sheep including nearly 750 lambs. Prices per CWT unless specified.

Stock and feeder: Barbados ewes, 50 to 90 lbs., 30.00 to 55.00. Barbados bucks, 200.00 to 930.00 per head. Stock bucks, 85.00 to 270.00 per head.

Slaughter lambs: Choice 1 to 3, 40 to 85 lbs., 116.00 to 128.00, few to 130.00. Slaughter ewes, Utility 1 to 3, Medium fleshy, 100 to 140 lbs., 25.00 to 35.00. Slaughter bucks, 150 to 240 lbs., 30.00 to 50.00. Barbados, lambs, 45 to 70 lbs., 115.00 to 124.00; ewes, 60 to 90 lbs., 36.00 to 54.00.

Slaughter goats: Kids, Selection 1, 25 to 40 lbs., 115.00 to 132.00; 40 to 60 lbs., 135.00 to 151.00; 60 to 80 lbs., 137.00 to 148.00, few to 153.00. Selection 2, 40 to 60 lbs., 125.00 to 135.00. Nannies, Selection 1, 70 to 125 lbs., 45.00 to 50.00, few 51.00 to 53.00, thin 30.00 to 45.00. Billies, 90 to 200 lbs., 70.00 to 85.00. Muttons, Selection 1, 90 to 120 lbs., 106.00 to 113.00.

Replacement goats: Nannies, Selection 1, 80 to 125 lbs., 60.00 to 80.00. Selection 2, 80 to 125 lbs., 50.00 to 60.00. Pairs, 28.00 to 39.00 per head.

Stock and feeder goats: individual 145 lbs., 85.00.
