Georgia livestock auction summary

The summary of Georgia cattle auctions for the week ending May 2, showed receipts of 10,296 head, compared to 10,541 head last week and 13,164 head last year, according to the USDA-Georgia Department of Agriculture Market News, Thomasville, Ga.

Compared to one week ago, slaughter cows were steady to $2 higher, bulls were steady, feeder steers were steady to $1 higher, heifers were $1 to $2 higher, steer calves were unevenly steady to $2 higher, heifer calves were $1 to $2 higher, replacement cows were steady to $3 higher. The offering included 8% steers over 600 pounds, 35% steers under 600 pounds, 4% heifers over 600 pounds, 25% heifers under 600 pounds, 10% feeder cows, 17% slaughter cows and 2% bulls.
