Colorado feeder cattle sale

The Colorado Auction Feeder Cattle Summary, Greeley, Colo., reported receipts of 2,033 head May 2, compared to 2,586 head last week and 2,635 head last year, according to the USDA-Colorado Department of Agriculture Market News, Greeley, Colo.

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers sold steady to $2 higher, instances of $3 higher. Demand was good for all classes. Greatest interest was in 400- to 600-pound, thin-fleshed kinds. Receipts continued to wane as we approach summer pasture. The supply was made up of 46% feeder steers, the balance was feeder heifers, with about 60% of total feeder supply over 600 pounds.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 400 to 450 lbs., 126.00 to 132.00; 450 to 500 lbs., 126.00 to 130.00; 500 to 550 lbs., 125.00; 550 to 600 lbs., 122.00 to 129.00; 600 to 650 lbs., 119.00 to 124.00; 650 to 700 lbs., 110.00 to 116.00; 700 to 750 lbs., 108.00; 750 to 800 lbs., 98.50 to 102.00; 970 lbs., 93.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300 to 350 lbs., 125.00; 350 to 400 lbs., 120.00 to 122.00; 400 to 450 lbs., 117.50 to 122.00; 500 to 550 lbs., 116.00 to 117.50; 600 to 650 lbs., 107.00 to 117.00; 650 to 700 lbs., 106.00 to 108.50; 800 lbs., 96.50.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 400 to 450 lbs., 117.00 to 117.50; 450 to 500 lbs., 108.00 to 117.50; 500 to 550 lbs., 106.00 to 111.00; 550 to 600 lbs., 100.00 to 107.00; 600 to 650 lbs., 96.00 to 105.00; 650 to 700 lbs., 96.00 to 102.00; 730 lbs., 95.00; 750 to 800 lbs., 94.00 to 96.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300 to 350 lbs., 112.00 to 113.00; 400 to 450 lbs., 105.00 to 114.50; 475 lbs., 105.00; 550 to 600 lbs., 102.50 to 103.50; 650 to 700 lbs., 96.00; 700 to 750 lbs., 90.50 to 92.00; 750 to 800 lbs., 88.50 to 92.50; 800 to 880 lbs., 87.00.
