Amarillo livestock sales reportThe Amarillo Livestock Auction, Amarillo, Texas, reported receipts of 831 head May 6, compared to 551 head last week and 1,382 head last year, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News, Amarillo, Texas. Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers were not enough for an adequate market price trend comparison due to the limited test last week, however a higher undertone was noted. Slaughter cows were steady to $1 higher compared to last week's limited trade. Slaughter bulls were not enough for an adequate test. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300- to 800-pound feeder steers and heifers. Trade and demand were moderate. Slaughter cows made up 8% of the offering, slaughter bulls less than 1/2%, replacement cows 5% and feeders 86%. The feeder supply included 44% steers and 56% heifers, with nearly 82% weighed over 600 pounds.
