2008 CCA Annual Convention set June 9 to 11 in Colorado SpringsColorado Next month, the Colorado Cattlemen's Association will be hosting the CCA/CCW/JCCA 141st Annual Convention. This year's convention will be held June 9 to 11 at the Crowne Plaza in Colorado Springs. The CCA/CCW/JCCA Annual Convention is always geared around industry issues that beef producers are faced with throughout the state. This year has been a busy year for beef producers, as there has certainly not been a shortage of issues to work on. This year's convention is packed with an array of committee agendas, speakers, and workshops that address a wide range of issues facing Colorado's beef producers. Committee meetings will take place June 9 and 10 of the convention. However, registration to attend these meetings is only $20, which includes a name badge, access to all meetings during the three days of convention, the CCW meeting, refreshment breaks, and entry to the trade show reception. This year's committee meetings will cover a wide range of issues facing Colorado beef producers. Topics such as trichomoniasis, the proposed JBS Swift merger, Greater Sage Grouse, the proposed changes regarding trucking laws and regulations, big game population impacts, and the use of ag water, to name a few. Along with committee meetings, there are plenty of speaker sessions and workshops to attend. This year's speakers include one of the industry's most respected market analysts, a five-star chef, legal experts who will provide information on agritourism business enterprises, and NCBA's chief economist. From cattle markets to a five-star beef eating experience, there is something for everyone at this year's convention. There will be plenty to do for our junior organization as well. For the junior members, activities this year include trips to Cave of the Winds, the United States Olympic Training Center, and various convention meetings. If you are not a member of JCCA and would like to become one, we encourage you to come to convention and get involved with current JCCA members. Registration is $5 and ages 8 to 25 are eligible for membership. In addition, the juniors will be selecting this year's officer team, so be sure to attend. For registration, please call the Colorado Cattlemen's Association office by May 30. Also, hotel reservations need to be made by May 16th to receive the CCA room rate by calling the Crowne Plaza at 719-576-5900. We look forward to seeing you at the CCA/CCW/JCCA 141st Annual Convention.
