Tulia livestock sales reportThe Tulia Livestock Auction, Tulia, Texas, reported receipts of 2,475 head March 24, compared to 5,056 head last week and 1,095 head last year, according to the Texas Department of Agriculture Market News-USDA Market News, Amarillo, Texas. Compared to last week, feeder steers were steady, except 700 to 900 pound steers were $2 to $5 higher, most advance over 800 pounds. Feeder heifers were steady, except 600 to 700 pounds were $1 to $2 higher. Slaughter cows were steady. Slaughter bulls not enough for a market test. Trade was moderate and demand moderate to good. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300- to 900-pound feeder steers and heifers. Slaughter cows 4% of the offering, slaughter bulls less than 1/2%, replacement cows 4% and feeders 91%. The feeder supply included 54% steers and 46% heifers, with nearly 80% of the run over 600 pounds.
