Tulia livestock sales report

The Tulia Livestock Auction, Tulia, Texas, reported receipts of 2,475 head March 24, compared to 5,056 head last week and 1,095 head last year, according to the Texas Department of Agriculture Market News-USDA Market News, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, feeder steers were steady, except 700 to 900 pound steers were $2 to $5 higher, most advance over 800 pounds. Feeder heifers were steady, except 600 to 700 pounds were $1 to $2 higher. Slaughter cows were steady. Slaughter bulls not enough for a market test. Trade was moderate and demand moderate to good. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300- to 900-pound feeder steers and heifers. Slaughter cows 4% of the offering, slaughter bulls less than 1/2%, replacement cows 4% and feeders 91%. The feeder supply included 54% steers and 46% heifers, with nearly 80% of the run over 600 pounds.

Steers: Medium and large frame 1, 300 to 400 lbs., 137.00 to 140.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 110.00 to 132.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 104.00 to 116.25; 600 to 700 lbs., 103.50 to 107.00; 750 to 800 lbs., 100.00 to 101.75; 800 to 900 lbs., 94.50 to 99.10, fleshy 84.75 to 85.00; lot 997 lbs., 87.25. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 500 to 600 lbs., 100.00 to 111.50; 600 to 700 lbs., 100.00 to 103.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 96.00 to 101.75; 850 to 900 lbs., 96.10 to 97.00. Medium and large frame 2, package 538 lbs., 95.00; package 739 lbs., 94.00. Medium and large frame 2 to 3, package 643 lbs., 96.00; package 790 lbs., 84.00. Large frame 1, lot 587 lbs., 103.00; package 758 lbs., 91.00. Small and medium frame 3 to 4, package 531 lbs., 75.00.

Feeder bulls: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, package 761 lbs., 92.00.

Heifers: Medium and large frame 1, package 255 lbs., 113.00; 300 to 400 lbs., 104.00 to 110.50; 400 to 500 lbs., 104.00 to 108.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 94.00 to 101.50; 600 to 700 lbs., 93.50 to 100.75; 700 to 800 lbs., 88.50 to 94.00, lot 781 lbs., fleshy 88.25; lot 913 lbs., 75.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 450 to 500 lbs., 96.50 to 100.00; lot 588 lbs., 97.50; 600 to 700 lbs., 90.50 to 97.00; lot 770 lbs., 89.75; 800 to 850 lbs., 83.00 to 86.00. Large frame 1, package 455 lbs., 93.00.

Slaughter cows: Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1000 to 1600 lbs., 48.50 to 55.00; high dressing, 56.00 to 57.50. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 47.00 to 50.00; 85 to 90% lean, 800 to 1000 lbs., 45.00 to 48.50.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1260 to 1965 lbs., 64.50 to 68.50.

Bred Stock: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young to middle aged, 950 to 1500 lbs., 710.00 to 885.00 per head; middle aged, 1000 to 1400 lbs., 550.00 to 680.00 per head; aged, 900 to 1350 lbs., 460.00 to 630.00 per head.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, middle aged, 800 to 1300 lbs., with 100- to 300-lb. calves 650.00 to 900.00 per pair; aged, 800 to 1200 lbs., with 150- to 250-lb. calves 550.00 to 750.00 per pair.
