Springfield livestock salesThe Springfield Livestock Marketing Center, Spring, Mo., reported receipts of 810 head March 19, compared to 3,506 head last week and 1,797 head last year, according to the Missouri Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Jefferson City, Mo. Compared to last week, steers under 750 pounds were $5 to $10 lower, and over 750 pounds were $3 to $5 lower. Holsteins under 700 pounds were $3 to $6 higher, and over 700 pounds were $3 to $4 lower. Heifers were $3 to $7 lower all on a light test. Demand and supply were light. Excessive amounts of rain flooded roads, curtailing receipts for the auction. The bulk of the calves and yearlings in medium to thin flesh, with a few fleshy, un-weaned calves in the mix. The feeder supply included 36% steers, 17% Holsteins, 40% heifers, 7% bulls, with 48% over 600 pounds. Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 400 to 500 lbs., few 110.00 to 111.00, fleshy 100.00 to 111.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 100.00 to 108.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 97.50 to 103.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 91.00 to 96.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, package 294 lbs., 111.00; 300 to 370 lbs., 106.00 to 111.00; 400 to 500 lbs., few 105.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 95.00 to 103.00; 600 to 650 lbs., 96.00 to 101.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 94.00 to 97.00; 800 to 815 lbs., 85.00 to 87.00. Holsteins: Large frame 3, 350 to 400 lbs., 80.00 to 81.00; 450 to 500 lbs., 76.00 to 86.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 80.00 to 88.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 72.00 to 76.00; lot 755 lbs., 65.00. Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 400 to 500 lbs., 94.00 to 100.00, fleshy 90.00 to 95.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 93.00 to 100.00, fleshy 85.00 to 90.00; 600 to 625 lbs., 89.00 to 92.00.
