Sioux Falls to host National Junior Limousin Show, All-American Limousin Futurity

The South Dakota and Minnesota Limousin associations will host the National Junior Limousin Show and Congress at the W.H. Lyon Fairgrounds and the Sheraton hotel and convention center in Sioux Falls, S.D., July 12 to 18. The weeklong, family-oriented event will include membership meetings, social activities, cattle shows, showmanship competitions and a variety of satellite educational events. It all helps North American Limousin Junior Association members have fun while learning about the beef industry, public speaking, marketing and leadership.

Todd Herman of Skiatook, Okla., will judge the owned-female show. Chris and Kristi Effling of Highmore, S.D., will be the showmanship judges. The NALJA Board of Directors will approve a judge for the steer, bred-and-owned and Lim-Flex shows at its April meeting.

More than 200 exhibitors and their families (800 to 1,000 people total) will bring about 500 head of cattle to the event. The concluding awards banquet will recognize participants' achievements through NALJA and spotlight the association's purpose--to develop knowledgeable, motivated beef industry leaders while promoting the Limousin breed through fellowship, leadership and education.

Entry fees for this year's NJLSC are $30 per animal entered by May 15. Late-entry fees will be $60 per animal entered after May 15. The NJLSC will not accept entries after June 10. Contact the North American Limousin Foundation at 303-220-1693 for more information and entry forms.

The All-American Limousin Futurity also will take place at the fairgrounds July 18. In addition to the traditional Limousin open show, this year's event will include the fifth annual Lim-Flex show and the third annual special fullblood show. The AALF open show is one of NALF's four major Medal of Excellence shows. To request information about and entry forms for the AALF shows, contact American Cattle Services at 580-597-3006.
