Huron cattle sales reportThe Bales Continental Commission Co., Huron, S.D., reported receipts of 2,319 head March 25, compared to 2,473 head last week and 2,98 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News, Sioux Falls, S.D. Compared to last week, feeder steers 600 to 750 pounds sold $3 to $4.50 higher, steers 750 pounds and up sold steady to $1.50 higher. Feeder heifers sold steady to $2 higher. Demand was good with many load lots in the offering. Many good heifers of breeding quality went back out into the country. Steers comprised 75% of the run, heifers 25%, with 95% of the run over 600 pounds. Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 10 head, 550 to 592 lbs., 118.50 to 123.00 (120.22); 651 to 690 lbs., 108.50 to 114.50 (110.15); 703 to 745 lbs., 103.50 to 108.50 (106.91); 770 to 799 lbs., 98.25 to 101.50 (100.04); 801 to 849 lbs., 92.25 to 97.60 (95.72); 856 to 899 lbs., 91.25 to 96.00 (94.08); 900 to 943 lbs., 91.25 to 93.00 (92.12); 11 head, 1005 lbs., 87.75. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 7 head, 481 to 490 lbs., 115.00 to 124.00 (118.90); 5 head, 537 lbs., 110.00; 7 head, 581 lbs., 111.50; 600 to 630 lbs., 103.00 to 110.10 (109.24) calves; 670 to 695 lbs., 93.00 to 99.25 (96.17); 733 to 747 lbs., 99.00; 7 head, 767 lbs., 91.50; 5 head, 894 lbs., 88.50; 9 head, 949 lbs., 87.00.
