High Plains slaughter news

High Plains weighted average direct slaughter cattle sales for the week ending March 23, totaled 148,707 head, compared to 167,224 head last week and 168,331 head last year, according t the USDA Market News Service, St. Joseph, Mo.

The report was based on sales in Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Iowa and Minnesota feedlots.

Steers: Live FOB basis, over 80% Choice, 2,573 head, 1,200 to 1,500 lbs., 88.50 to 90.50 (89.84); 65 to 80% Choice, 6,570 head, 1,225 to 1,450 lbs., 88.00 to 91.00 (89.64); 35 to 65% Choice, 17,325 head, 1,110 to 1,450 lbs., 88.50 to 90.50 (89.81); 0 to 35% Choice, 137 head, 1,280 to 1,300 lbs., 90.00.
