Goldthwaite sheep sales

The Mills County Commission Co., Goldthwaite, Texas, March 21, reported receipts of 2,384 head of sheep and goats, compared to 2,611 head last week and 3,331 head last year, according to the USDA-Department of Agriculture Market News, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, stocker and feeder lambs were $5 to $7 lower. Slaughter lambs were steady. Stocker and feeder goats were not tested. Slaughter goats were $3 to $5 lower. Demand was good. The supply included around 40% sheep including nearly 600 lambs. Prices per CWT unless specified.

Stock and feeder lambs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 80 to 95 lbs., 112.00 to 117.50. Dorper ewes, 80 to 120 lbs., 78.00 to 88.00, few fancy to 112.00. Dorper bucks, few 200.00 to 210.00 per head.

Slaughter lambs: Choice, few 100 to 135 lbs., 70.00 to 75.00. Good and Choice 1 to 3, 40 to 85 lbs., 115.00 to 127.00. Slaughter ewes, Utility 1 to 3, medium fleshy, 90 to 130 lbs., 30.00 to 37.00. Slaughter bucks, 100 to 200 lbs., 40.00 to 50.00, few buck lambs to 60.00.

Slaughter goats: Kids, Selection 1,40 to 60 lbs., 120.00 to 130.00; 60 to 80 lbs., 120.00 to 128.00. Selection 2, 40 to 60 lbs., 110.00 to 120.00. Nannies, Selection 1, 80 to 125 lbs., 30.00 to 45.00. Angoras, few 70 to 80 lbs., thin 15.00 to 20.00. Billies, 100 to 200 lbs., 75.00 to 85.00. Muttons, Selection 1, 90 to 120 lbs., 85.00 to 90.00.

Replacement goats: Nannies, Selection 1, 80 to 110 lbs., 60.00 to 85.00. Billies, Selection 1, 150 to 200 lbs., 85.00 to 95.00.
