Apache cattle sales report

Stockman's Livestock Inc., Apache, Okla., reported receipts of 3,039 head March 21, compared to 4,218 head last week and 2,463 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers were $1 to $2 higher. Steer and heifer calves were $3 to $5 higher. Weigh-ups were average to full. Demand was for all classes of cattle moderate to good. The supply included 56% steers, 43% heifers, 1% bulls and 50% over 600 pounds. Slaughter cows steady to $1 higher. Slaughter bulls were steady. A total of 290 cows and bulls sold with 55% going to packers.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 65 head, 1250 to 2225 lbs., 64.00 to 67.50; high dressing, 68.00 to 74.50; low dressing, 59.50 to 63.00.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 1 to 4 years old, 875 to 1050 lbs., 4 to 8 months bred, average quality 710.00 to 840.00; 5 to 6 years old, 1150 to 1250 lbs., 4 to 7 months bred, average quality 700.00 to 960.00; 7 to 8 years old, 1025 to 1250 lbs., 3 to 7 months bred, average quality 770.00 to 820.00.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 4 years old, 1000 to 1175 lbs., with 80- to 100-lb. calves, average quality 1090.00 to 1190.00; 7 years old, 950 to 1200 lbs., with 70- to 125-lb. calves, average quality 930.00 to 1020.00.
