Springfield livestock salesThe Springfield Livestock Marketing Center, Springfield, O., reported receipts of 3,622 head Feb. 20, compared to 1,000 two weeks ago and 2,999 head last year, according to the Missouri Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Jefferson City, MO. Not enough receipts last week for a report, compared to a light test two weeks ago, steers and heifers were $2 to $5 higher, no recent test of Holsteins for a price comparison. Demand was moderate to good, supply heavy. Poor weather conditions has caused cattle to stack to up the last couple weeks. This has been the best chance to move cattle before the next weather front hits the area. A special Wean-vac sale was held in conjunction with the regular feeder cattle sale. The feeder supply included 47% steers, 4% Holsteins, 44% heifers, 5% bulls, with 63% over 600 pounds. Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 350 to 400 lbs., 130.00 to 133.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 123.00 to 132.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 111.00 to 129.50; 600 to 700 lbs., 108.50 to 118.50, calves or fleshy 105.00 to 109.50; 700 to 800 lbs., 99.00 to 111.00, fleshy 95.00 to 101.50; 800 to 900 lbs., 94.00 to 102.00; 900 to 950 lbs., 91.00 to 94.00.
