Sheep owners workshop on strategic risk management, feeding distiller's to sheep set March 4

Colorado

Colorado State University and Weld County Extension will be sponsoring a workshop to discuss newly available protection plans of interest to sheep producers. The workshop will take place on Tuesday, March 4, at 12 p.m. in the Exhibition Building at Island Grove Regional Park, Greeley, Colo.

Dr. Jay Parsons of the Agriculture and Resource Economics Department at CSU will present information on AGR (Adjusted Gross Revenue)-Lite, LRP (Livestock Risk Protection)-Lamb, and the Rain Fall Index for range, pasture, and forage. Parsons will also have on hand a risk simulation program for participants to get a feel for how these insurance products can fit into their management plan. The use of distiller's grains in sheep grow/finish diets will also be discussed.

This workshop is free and open to all. Pizza will be provided. So we may have an idea on how many participants to expect, please call Mike Jarosz with Weld County Extension at 970-590-0796 to pre-register.
