Salina cattle auction report

The Farmers and Ranchers Livestock Commission Co., Salina, Kan., reported receipts of 3,709 head Feb. 21, compared to 4,106 head last year and 5,286 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan.

Compared with last week, steers 300 to 500 pounds were steady to firm, 500 to 800 pounds were $1 to $3 lower, 800 to 850 pounds were steady, 850 to 1000 pounds were weak to $3 lower. Heifers 300 to 450 pounds were steady to firm, 450 to 650 pounds were $2 to $3 lower, 650 to 750 pounds were firm to $2 higher, 750 to 900 pounds were weak to $1 lower. Trade and demand were moderate. Receipts included 82% 600 pounds and over, 17% 600 pounds and under, less than 1% slaughter cows. The feeder supply included 64% steers and 36% heifers.
