Pratt livestock sales report

Pratt Livestock Sales Inc., Pratt, Kan., reported receipts of 3,420 head Feb. 21, compared to 3,506 head last week and 5,087 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan.

Compared to last week, steers and heifers at 300 to 600 pounds were steady to firm, steers 600 to 850 pounds were steady to $1 higher, and 850 to 1000 pounds were $1 to $2 lower. Heifers at 600 to 800 pounds were steady to $1 higher, and 800 to 950 pounds were weak to $1 lower. Trade was active, demand was good. Slaughter cows were $2 higher. Slaughter bulls were steady. Receipts included 75% 600 pounds and over, 6% 600 pounds and under, 19% cows and bulls. The feeder supply included 63% steers and 37% heifers.

Medium and large frame 1 to 2, middle aged, 108 head, 1252 to 1289 lbs., 860.00 to 935.00 (895.63). Large frame 1, young, 30 head, 1512 to 1530 lbs., 1000.00 to 1060.00 (1030.18). Large frame 1 to 2, middle aged, short and solid, 45 head, 1371 to 1389 lbs., 750.00 to 820.00 (785.52). Large frame 2 to 3, aged, broken mouth, 19 head, 1352 lbs., 700.00.

Slaughter cows: Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 51.00 to 56.00; high dressing, 57.00 to 59.00; low dressing, 45.00 to 50.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2., 63.50 to 68.50 (65.80); high dressing, 1 head, 72.75; low dressing, 54.50 to 60.00 (56.58).
