McAlester livestock reportThe McAlester Union Livestock Market, McAlester, Okla., reported receipts of 1,425 head Feb. 26, compared to 1,100 head last week and 1,400 head last year, according to the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News, Oklahoma City, Okla. Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers were steady to $3 higher. Demand was good on all classes. Quality and weigh-ups were average. Flesh conditions were medium to fleshy. The supply included 57% heifers and 52% over 600 pounds. Slaughter cows and bulls steady to $2 higher. A total of 175 cows and bulls sold with 45% going to packers. Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 5 head, 475 to 485 lbs., 120.00 to 121.00 (120.60); 502 to 543 lbs., 117.00 to 124.00 (120.58); 13 head, 587 lbs., 115.50; 603 to 634 lbs., 107.00 to 113.50 (110.71); 10 head, 693 lbs., 103.25; 7 head, 714 to 728 lbs., 95.75 to 103.25 ( 99.00).
