Lexington livestock salesThe Lexington Livestock Market, Lexington, Neb., reported receipts of 3,100 head Feb. 22, compared to 2,900 head last week and 2,500 head last year, according to the USDA-Nebraska Department of Agriculture Market News, Kearney, Neb. Compared to last week, steers weighing less than 650 pounds trended $2 to $5 higher with instances of as much as $7 to $9 higher. Steers at 650 pounds and greater trended fully steady to $2 higher. Heifers weighing less than 600 pounds traded $3 to $6 higher. Heifers heavier than 600 pounds traded fully steady to firm. Demand was moderate to good for the bulk of offerings to very good for those offerings suitable for going to grass. Receipts consisted of 59% steers and 41% heifers with 62% of the total feeder cattle receipts weighing over 600 pounds.
