Huron cattle sales reportThe Bales Continental Commission Co., Huron, S.D., reported receipts of 3,217 head Feb. 26, compared to 2,924 head last week and 2,167 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News, Sioux Falls, S.D. Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers sold steady to $2 lower. Demand was good with many load lots in offering. Price was driven by flesh on cattle and a shot program. Many good quality heifers returned to the country for breeding programs. Steers comprised 56% of the run, heifers 44%, with 93% of the run over 600 pounds.
