High Plains slaughter news

High Plains weighted average direct slaughter cattle sales for the week ending Feb. 24, reported receipts of 174,349 head, compared to 140,569 head last week and 162,786 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, St. Joseph, Mo.

The report was based on information from Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Iowa and Minnesota feedlots.

Steers: Live FOB basis, over 80% Choice, 1,250 head, 1,275 to 1,455 lbs., 89.00 to 91.00 (90.44); 65 to 80% Choice, 5,687 head, 1,240 to 1,450 lbs., 89.00 to 92.00 (90.60); 35 to 65% Choice, 36,888 head, 1,090 to 1,475 lbs., 89.75 to 92.50 (91.77); 0 to 35% Choice, 1,571 head, 1,235 to 1,375 lbs., 92.00.
