Georgia livestock market summaryThe summary of Georgia cattle auctions for the week ending Feb. 22 showed receipts of 10,278 head, compared to 11,242 head last week and 11,157 head last year, according to the USDA-Georgia Department of Agriculture Market News, Thomasville, Ga. Compared to last week, slaughter cows were $1 to $2 higher, bulls were $1 to $3 higher, feeder steers were $1 to $4 higher, heifers were steady to $3 higher, steer calves were steady to $3 higher, heifer calves were $1 to $2 higher, replacement cows were mostly steady. The offering included 9% steers over 600 pounds, 32% steers under 600 pounds, 7% heifers over 600 pounds, 26% heifers under 600 pounds, 8% feeder cows, 16% slaughter cows and 2% bulls.
