Denison feeder cattle sale

The Denison Feeder Cattle Auction, Denison, Iowa, reported receipts of 2,472 head Feb. 21, compared to 2,963 head last week, according to the Iowa Department of Agriculture Market News, Des Moines, Iowa.

This was a special preconditioned feeder cattle sale. A large crowd was on hand procuring replacements. Trade was active. No comparisons were available as the preconditioned sale was not reported. Quality was good and the cattle were in light to medium flesh. Receipts included 72% feeder cattle over 600 pounds, 44% heifers and 56% steers.

Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 6 head, 415 lbs., 123.00; 3 head, 472 lbs., 115.50; 11 head, 520 to 528 lbs., 116.00 to 116.50 (116.23); 20 head, 556 to 567 lbs., 112.75 to 117.00 (115.97); 8 head, 745 lbs., 103.00; 6 head, 763 lbs., 102.00.
