Dalhart livestock sales report

The Cattleman's Livestock Auction, Dalhart, Texas, reported receipts of 2,115 head Feb. 21, compared to 1,515 head last week and 1,755 head last year, according to the Texas Department of Agriculture Market News-USDA Market News, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, feeder steers under 600 pounds were firm, heifers firm to $2 higher. Feeder steers over 600 pounds were $1 lower on few packages on offer, heifers were $1 to $3 higher on several load lots on offer. Slaughter cows and bulls were $2 higher. Trade was active. Demand was good. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 350- to 750-pound feeder steers and heifers. Feeder cattle accounted for 88%, slaughter cows and bulls 12%. In the feeder supply, steers made up approximately 43% of the run, heifers 57%, steers and heifers over 600 pounds totaled 46%.

Steers: Medium and large frame 1, 300 to 400 lbs., 144.00 to 151.00, lot 371 lbs., 141.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 134.50 to 139.00, two packages 410 to 498 lbs., 126.00 to 142.50; 500 to 600 lbs., 119.00 to 127.00, lot 510 lbs., 134.00, package 596 lbs., 114.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 110.50 to 114.00, package 615 lbs., 117.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 103.00 to 105.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, lot 358 lbs., 140.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 125.00 to 133.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 109.00 to 113.50; package 649 lbs., 104.00; package 844 lbs., 92.00. Medium and large frame 2, few 400 to 500 lbs., 120.00 to 121.00; few 700 to 800 lbs., 94.00 to 96.00.

Heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 300 to 400 lbs., 115.00 to 117.00, pre-conditioned 120.50 to 124.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 106.00 to 110.00, pre-conditioned 115.00 to 116.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 97.00 to 103.00, package 525 lbs., fleshy 95.50; 600 to 700 lbs., 97.50 to 101.50; 700 to 800 lbs., 94.35 to 98.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300 to 400 lbs., 111.00 to 116.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 102.50 to 105.00, pre-conditioned 110.00 to 110.25; few 500 to 600 lbs., 95.50 to 96.00. Medium and large frame 2, two packages, 456 to 488 lbs., 98.00 to 105.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 93.50 to 95.50.

Slaughter cows: Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1200 to 1400 lbs., 54.50 to 58.25. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 56.00 to 60.50; 85 to 90% lean, 800 to 1000 lbs., 54.25 to 60.50.

Dairy slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1600 to 1800 lbs., 53.50 to 56.50. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1600 to 1800 lbs., 54.50 to 57.50. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1400 to 1700 lbs., 54.00 to 56.50; low dressing, 46.00 to 49.50.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1500 to 1900 lbs., 65.50 to 73.00.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young to middle-aged 1100 to 1400 lbs., 4 to 6 months bred, 750.00 to 835.00 per head; young to middle-aged, 1000 to 1300 lbs., 7 to 9 months bred, 790.00 to 920.00 per head.
