Apache livestock sales reportStockman's Livestock Inc., Apache, Okla., reported receipts of 4,549 head Feb. 23, compared to 4,260 head last week and 7,213 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News, Oklahoma City, Okla. Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers were steady to $1 higher. Demand remained good for feeder cattle despite the lower trending feeder futures. Steer and heifer calves were lightly tested and steady. Demand was good for grazing cattle. Quality was average to attractive with several loads lots coming off wheat. Feeder cattle were in medium to fleshy conditions with average to full weigh-ups. Receipts included 70% over 600 pounds, 27% under 600 pounds, 3% cows and bulls. The total supply included 42% heifers. Slaughter cows were steady to $2 higher. Slaughter bulls were $2 higher. Demand was good for light supply of slaughter cows. Demand also good for few replacement cows. A total of 163 cows and bulls sold with 57% going to packers.
