U.S. Custom Harvesters: 25 Years Strong and Building on a Future"25 Years Strong and Building on a Future," was the theme for the U.S. Custom Harvesters, Inc., 2008 annual convention. As the theme states, the organization celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2008. The MPEC convention center in Wichita Falls, Texas, housed a crowd of 677 attendees for three days, Feb. 28, 29 and March 1. The trade show boasted 150 vendors, which included major combine and forage harvester equipment. Other various harvest support vendors completed the full show. The trade show was open to the organization's membership all three days and proved to be a success for both vendors and members. Events throughout the weekend included combine and forage clinics and classrooms, ladies luncheon and program, safety meetings, and the annual business meeting. Speakers and meetings were held for members to learn more about the harvesting business and how to market their businesses more effectively. The organization also had the pleasure of hosting Brent Oden from Texas Senator John Cornyn's office, Benjamin Bailey from Texas Congressman Randy Neugebauer's office, Texas Senator Craig Estes, and Texas Senator Kel Seliger during lunch Feb. 29. The highlight of the weekend was the banquet held March 1. The organization awarded six $1,000 scholarships and four new Hall of Fame Inductees. The convention was visited by many of the beginning members, including the first President, J. L. Pettiet and his wife, Modena. 3/24/08 Date: 3/20/08
