Salina livestock sales reportThe Farmers and Ranchers Livestock Commission Co., Salina, Kan., reported receipts of 5,100 head, March 14, compared to 4,000 head, last week and 4,297 head, last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan. Compared with last week, steers at 350 to 750 pounds were steady to $2 higher, those suitable for grazing were $3 to $5 higher, and those weighing 750 to 950 pounds were steady. Heifers at 350 to 650 pounds were steady to $3 lower, and 650 to 800 pounds were mostly steady. Some instance were $3 higher. Trade was active. Demand was good. Receipts included 78% 600 pounds and over, 21% 600 pounds and under, less than 1% slaughter cows. The feeder supply included 64% steers and 36% heifers.
