Newell sheep sales report

St. Onge Livestock Co., Ltd., Newell, S.D., reported receipts of 803 head March 13, compared to 169 head last week and 537 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News, Sioux Falls, S.D.

Sheep trends were not applicable due to the limited test last week. Receipts were comprised of about 75% feeder lambs and 23% slaughter ewes and bucks.

Slaughter ewes: Good 2 to 3, 50 head, 169 lbs., 24.00. Good 3 to 4, 10 head, 200 to 223 lbs., 15.50 to 18.00 (16.44). Utility 1 to 2, 30 head, 150 lbs., 21.50. Cull 1, 72 head, 129 lbs., 9.50.

Feeder lambs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 109 head, 69 lbs., 112.50; 12 head, 73 lbs., 100.50 Blackface; 392 head, 86 lbs., 117.00. Small and medium frame 1 to 2, 8 head, 57 lbs., 100.00. Medium frame 1 to 2, 9 head, 87 lbs., 109.00.

Slaughter bucks: 29 head, 222 lbs., 16.25 fleshy.
