Lexington livestock sales

The Lexington Livestock Market, Lexington, Neb., reported receipts of 1,400 head March 14, compared to 2,400 head last week and 3,100 head last year, according to the USDA-Nebraska Department of Agriculture Market News, Kearney, Neb.

There were not enough numbers of comparable receipts to establish a trend. However, a fairly steady undertone was noted. Buyers and numbers of grass type calves were both scarce, with good demand for weights over 600 pounds. Receipts consisted of 50% steers and 50% heifers, 87% over 600 pounds.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 3 head, 480 lbs., 117.00; 509 to 521 lbs., 125.50 to 128.00 (126.07); 18 head, 558 to 572 lbs., 117.00 to 126.50 (119.07); 601 to 636 lbs., 111.75 to 119.75 (117.78); 12 head, 653 lbs., 113.25; 707 to 724 lbs., 107.50 to 111.10 (110.29); 836 to 847 lbs., 88.00 to 92.85 (91.33); 51 head, 948 lbs., 90.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 5 head, 568 lbs., 105.00; 12 head, 637 lbs., 107.50.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 5 head, 547 lbs., 106.00; 14 head, 552 to 576 lbs., 100.00 to 106.00 (104.23); 607 to 636 lbs., 92.50 to 97.75 (95.34); 16 head, 657 lbs., 97.50; 18 head, 730 lbs., 91.00; 750 to 791 lbs., 87.50 to 91.00 (90.14); 804 to 831 lbs., 88.00 to 90.00 (88.79); 63 head, 838 lbs., 93.60 replacement; 43 head, 865 lbs., 88.10; 857 lbs., 93.60 replacement; 911 to 934 lbs., 86.85 to 88.35 (88.05). Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 452 to 491 lbs., 105.00 to 113.50 (107.96); 7 head, 741 lbs., 87.50.

Feeder bulls: Medium and large frame 1, 18 head, 396 lbs., 133.00; 12 head, 595 lbs., 110.00.
