Huron cattle sales report

The Bales Continental Commission Co., Huron, S.D., reported receipts f 2,473 head March 18, compared to 2,710 head last week and 1,934 head last year according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News, Sioux Falls, S.D.

Compared to last week, feeder steers up to 750 pounds sold $2 to $5 lower, feeder steers 750 pounds and up sold steady to $3 higher. Feeder heifers sold steady to $3 lower, and the bulk of decline was on the lighter heifers. Demand was good with many load lots in the offering. Many good heifers of breeding quality went back out into the country. There were also some big lots of drug-free steers. Steers comprised 49% of the run, heifers 51%, with 95% of the run was over 600 pounds.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 7 head, 414 lbs., 137.00; 13 head, 509 lbs., 128.50; 578 to 593 lbs., 114.50 to 121.00 (117.27) 600 to 639 lbs., 110.00 to 111.00 (110.70); 609 to 615 lbs., 117.50 to 118.50 (117.96) calves; 654 to 693 lbs., 103.50 to 110.50 (106.50); 15 head, 706 to 724 lbs., 102.00; 70 head, 730 lbs., 110.00 value added; 755 to 793 lbs., 97.00 to 102.50 (99.05); 768 to 799 lbs., 102.25 to 110.00 (102.83) value added; 817 to 828 lbs., 93.75 to 97.50 (96.72); 892 to 897 lbs., 91.25 to 93.25 (92.48); 15 head, 902 to 912 lbs., 87.50 to 93.25 (90.97); 33 head, 958 lbs., 89.25. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 6 head, 328 lbs., 144.00; 6 head, 492 lbs., 124.00; 7 head, 623 lbs., 92.00; 15 head, 641 lbs., 103.00 calves; 5 head, 756 lbs., 95.00. Large frame 1, 6 head, 1013 lbs., 86.00; 7 head, 1079 lbs., 86.75.
