Goldthwaite sheep sales

The Mills County Commission Co., Goldthwaite, Texas, March 14, reported receipts of 2,611 head of sheep and goats, compared to 1,504 head last week and 4,659 head last year, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, stocker and feeder lambs were not tested. Heavy weight slaughter lambs were steady on a light test, light weights were $8 to $10 lower. Stocker and feeder goats were not tested due to first offerings of the year. Slaughter goats were $20 to $25 lower. Demand was good. The supply included around 45% sheep including nearly 700 lambs. Prices per CWT unless specified.

Stock and feeder: Dorper ewes, 80 to 100 lbs., 45.00 to 71.00; pairs, 24.00 to 38.00 per head. Dorper bucks, 100 to 190 lbs., 73.00 to 100.00.

Slaughter lambs: Prime, 90 to 110 lbs., 90.00 to 105.00. Choice, 100 to 140 lbs., 70.00 to 75.00. Good and Choice 1 to 3, 40 to 85 lbs., 115.00 to 127.00. Good, 40 to 85 lbs., 105.00 to 115.00. Slaughter Ewes, Utility 1 to 3, Medium fleshy, 90 to 125 lbs., 30.00 to 37.00. Slaughter bucks, 120 to 225 lbs., 30.00 to 40.00, few buck lambs 60.00. Barbados, lambs, 45 to 70 lbs., 90.00 to 116.00; ewes, 70 to 90 lbs., 25.00 to 30.00; bucks, few 100 lbs., 50.00.

Slaughter goats: Kids, Selection 1, 40 to 60 lbs., 120.00 to 135.00; 60 to 80 lbs., 120.00 to 128.00. Selection 2, 40 to 60 lbs., 110.00 to 120.00; 60 to 80 lbs., 110.00 to 120.00. Nannies, Selection 1, 80 to 130 lbs., 30.00 to 45.00. Billies, 90 to 200 lbs., 75.00 to 90.00. Muttons, Selection 1, 90 to 120 lbs., 85.00 to 90.00.

Replacement goats: Kids, Selection 1, 50 to 80 lb. fancy nannies 120.00 to 130.00. Nannies, Selection 1, 80 to 120 lbs., 60.00 to 80.00. Pairs, 20.00 to 58.00 per head. Billies, Selection 1, 150 to 180 lbs., 92.00 to 95.00.

Stock and feeders goats: few 30 to 45 lbs., 90.00 to 110.00.
