Denison feeder cattle sale

The Denison Feeder cattle auction, Denison, Iowa, reported receipts of 2,120 head March 13, compared to 2,987 head last week and 2,219 head last year, according to the Iowa Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News, Des Moines, Iowa.

This was a special feeder cattle sale. Demand was good. Compared to last week calves under 600 pounds were steady. Feeders were $4 to $5 lower. Receipts included 79% feeder cattle over 600 pounds, 44% heifers and 56% steers.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 5 head, 377 lbs., 134.00; 10 head, 405 to 434 lbs., 123.50 to 127.50 (124.86); 458 to 498 lbs., 119.00 to 125.50 (122.12); 12 head, 505 to 522 lbs., 117.00 to 122.50 (120.36); 553 to 575 lbs., 110.00 to 117.50 (113.71); 11 head, 602 to 603 lbs., 113.00 to 114.00 (113.27); 678 to 694 lbs., 103.50 to 109.00 (108.16); 700 to 739 lbs., 100.50 to 108.00 (103.88); 773 to 797 lbs., 97.50 to 98.50 (98.26); 811 to 830 lbs., 96.75 to 98.50 (97.57); 858 to 898 lbs., 91.50 to 94.75 (92.06); 918 to 934 lbs., 88.10 to 90.25 (89.52). Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 5 head, 420 to 443 lbs., 114.00 to 117.00 (115.85); 6 head, 457 lbs., 115.50; 19 head, 515 to 535 lbs., 111.00 to 115.00 (112.48); 678 to 694 lbs., 95.00 to 98.25 (96.35); 706 to 741 lbs., 96.00 to 98.50 (97.56); 769 to 796 lbs., 94.00 to 95.25 (94.71).
