Dalhart livestock sales report

The Cattleman's Livestock Auction, Dalhart, Texas, reported receipts of 3,835 head March 13, compared to 2,137 head last week and 3,482 head last year, according to the Texas Department of Agriculture Market News-USDA Market News, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers were steady to $2 lower. Slaughter cows were weak to $2 lower. Slaughter bulls were steady to $1 higher. Trade and demand were moderate. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300- to 800-pound feeder steers and heifers. Slaughter cows made up 10% of the offering, slaughter bulls 1%, replacement cows 2% and feeders 87%. The feeder supply included 58% steers and 42% heifers, with nearly 45% over 600 pounds.

Steers: Medium and large frame 1, 300 to 350 lbs., 144.00 to 147.50, lot 314 lbs., 160.00, 350 to 400 lbs., 132.50 to 140.00, lot 383 lbs., 149.00, 400 to 500 lbs., 123.50 to 133.00, few 136.00 to 140.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 119.50 to 127.00, lot 593 lbs., 116.50; 600 to 625 lb. calves 109.00 to 112.00, part load 600 lbs., 118.00, package 680 lbs., fleshy 100.50; 700 to 800 lbs., 97.00 to 102.00; lot 855 lbs., 94.00, load 883 lbs., 90.60; 900 to 975 lbs., 89.00 to 91.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300 to 400 lbs., 130.00 to 137.50; 400 to 425 lbs., 122.00 to 131.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 110.25 to 115.50, few 124.00; lot 617 lbs., thin 112.25; 700 to 775 lbs., 98.75 to 99.00; 800 to 850 lbs., 91.25 to 92.35. Medium and large frame 2 to 3, 400 to 500 lbs., 115.00 to 116.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 106.00 to 110.00; package 746 lbs., 82.00.

Heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 300 to 400 lbs., 115.00 to 119.00, lot 350 lbs., 126.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 109.00 to 115.00, part load 400 lbs., 119.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 103.00 to 108.00; 600 to 650 lb. calves 95.00 to 99.00; 700 to 760 lbs., 92.00 to 92.25; few 800 to 900 lbs., 87.00 to 87.25. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300 to 400 lbs., 104.00 to 111.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 101.00 to 107.25; 500 to 575 lbs., 99.00 to 105.00. Medium and large frame 2 to 3, 300 to 400 lbs., 101.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 91.50 to 101.00.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1200 to 1600 lbs., 51.50 to 54.50. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1200 to 1600 lbs., 53.50 to 56.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1600 lbs., 53.00 to 56.00; high dressing, 56.00 to 58.00; 85 to 90% lean, 800 to 1000 lbs., 53.50 to 54.50.

Dairy slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1700 to 1750 lbs., 53.00 to 53.50. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1300 to 1700 lbs., 51.50 to 53.50. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1200 to 1500 lbs., 52.25 to 56.00; 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 49.00 to 52.50.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1500 to 2160 lbs., 73.00 to 79.00.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young to middle-aged, 700 to 1150 lbs., 4 to 7 months bred, 600.00 to 960.00 per head; middle-aged, 1000 to 1300 lbs., 4 to 7 months bred, 600.00 to 740.00 per head; aged, 1000 to 1400 lbs., 4 to 7 months bred, 600.00 to 750.00 per head.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young to middle-aged, 850 to 1100 lbs., with 100- to 200-lb. calves, 900.00 to 1075.00 per pair; aged, 950 to 1250 lbs., with 100- to 250-lb. calves, 750.00 to 875.00 per pair.
