Call for Northeast Missouri Livestock Person of the Year applicationsMissouri The Missouri Livestock Symposium recently announced that applications for 2008 Northeast Missouri Livestock Person of the Year are due no later than May 1. Applications are available on the Missouri Livestock Symposium website at http://missourilivestock.com or by calling the University of Missouri Extension Center in Adair County at 660-665-9866. The Northeast Missouri Livestock Person of the Year will be recognized at the 2008 Missouri Livestock Symposium scheduled for Dec. 5 and 6 at the Kirksville Middle School, Kirksville, Mo. The 2008 Northeast Missouri Livestock Person of the Year will receive a hand painted, framed oil portrait and will be inducted into the Northeast Missouri Livestock Hall of Fame. According to Garry L. Mathes, chair of the Missouri Livestock Symposium planning committee, "the purpose of the Northeast Missouri Livestock Person of the Year award is to duly honor livestock leaders from northeast Missouri who have made significant contributions to the progress and well-being of the livestock industries." According to Mathes, eligible applicants must have been residents or are current residents of one of the following northeast Missouri counties: Adair, Clark, Knox, Lewis, Linn, Macon, Marion, Monroe, Pike, Putnam, Randolph, Ralls, Schuyler, Scotland, Shelby, or Sullivan. Deceased as well as living individuals are eligible. In general, producers, agribusiness personnel, agriculture educators, researchers, or others that have contributed to the livestock industries will be considered for the honor. Applications may be submitted by the applicant, applicant's friends or supporters, or organizations wishing to nominate someone for the award. Again, applications for the Northeast Missouri Livestock Person of the Year award are due no later than May 1. Applications must be mailed to: Missouri Livestock Symposium, 503 E.
