Tulia livestock auction report

The Tulia Livestock Auction Inc., Tulia, Texas, reported receipts of 5,024 head March 10, compared to 4,900 head last week and 5,289 head last year, according to the Texas Department of Agriculture News-USDA Market News, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers under 600 pounds were $1 to $3 higher, steers over 600 pounds were $1 to $2 lower, heifers over 600 pounds were $1 to $2 higher. Slaughter cows were firm to $1 higher. Slaughter bulls were not fully established. Trade was moderate and demand was good. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 400- to 850-pound feeder steers and heifers. Slaughter cows made up 2% of the offering, slaughter bulls 1%, replacement cows 1%, and feeders 96%, with 69% over 600 pounds.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1400 to 1900 lbs., 67.00 to 71.50.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young to middle-aged, 800 to 1060 lbs., 4 to 7 months bred, 700.00 to 950.00 per head; middle-aged, 1150 to 1500 lbs., 4 to 7 months bred, 570.00 to 830.00 per head; aged, 1100 to 1400 lbs., 4 to 7 months bred, 580.00 to 750.00 per head.
