Texhoma cattle sales report

The Texhoma Livestock Auction, Texhoma, Okla., reported receipts of 4,423 head March 12, compared to 2,872 head last week and 4,791 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers were steady to $1 lower. Steer calves were $2 to $4 lower in a limited test. Heifer calves were steady. Demand was moderate to good for all classes. Weigh-ups were average to gaunt, few full. The supply included 55% steers, 43% heifers with 88% over 600 pounds. Slaughter cows and bulls were steady. A total of 88 cows and bulls sold with 77% going to packers.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 7 head, 320 lbs., 137.50; 20 head, 455 to 480 lbs., 125.00 to 130.00 (126.44); 12 head, 527 lbs., 120.50; 550 to 595 lbs., 110.50 to 116.75 (112.52); 656 to 680 lbs., 107.00 to 111.00 (110.00); 701 to 748 lbs., 101.00 to 107.10 (104.21); 759 to 786 lbs., 98.35 to 100.00 (98.90); 759 to 792 lbs., 96.35 to 97.25 (96.79) fleshy; 804 to 827 lbs., 96.00 to 99.75 (97.63 181 head, 845 lbs., 94.10 fleshy; 851 to 858 lbs., 94.60 to 95.75 (95.50). Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 29 head, 594 lbs., 111.25; 21 head, 706 lbs., 104.75. Medium and large frame 2, 7 head, 577 lbs., 108.00; 708 to 724 lbs., 99.50 to 100.50 (100.10).

Feeder bulls: Medium and large frame 1, 26 head, 484 lbs., 114.50; 20 head, 582 lbs., 109.50.

Boners, 28 head, 80 to 85% lean, 1025 to 1425 lbs., 53.00 to 54.00; high dressing, 56.00 to 57.50; low dressing, 47.00 to 50.00. Lean, 24 head, 85 to 90% lean, 950 to 1325 lbs., 50.50 to 53.50; high dressing, 54.50 to 55.50; low dressing, 46.50 to 49.50. Light, 8 head, 85 to 90% lean, 800 to 950 lbs., 42.50 to 44.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 5 head, 1450 to 1825 lbs., 65.50 to 68.00; high dressing, 70.00; low dressing, 63.50.
