Salina livestock sales reportThe Farmers and Ranchers Livestock Commission Co., Salina, Kan., reported receipts of 4,000 head, March 7, compared to 4,448 head, last week and 4,175 head, last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan. Compared with last week, steers at 300 to 650 pounds, few suited for grazing and thin fleshed, were firm to $3 higher. The bulk of trade were $2 to $4 lower, and those at 650 to 950 pounds were $2 to $4 lower. Heifers at 450 to 700 pounds were steady, and 700 to 850 pounds were $1 to $3 lower. Trade was active. Demand was good. Receipts included 81% 600 pounds and over, 18% 600 pounds and under, less than 1% slaughter cows. The feeder supply included 56% steers and 44% heifers.
