Pratt livestock sales report

Pratt Livestock Sales Inc., Pratt, Kan., reported receipts of 5,161 head March 6, compared to 5,338 head last week and 5,039 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan.

Compared to last week, steers at 300 to 600 pounds were steady to firm, and 600 to 1,000 pounds were $1 to $5 lower. Heifers at 300 to 600 pounds were steady to weak, and 600 to 950 pounds were $2 to $4 lower. Trade was active, demand was good. Slaughter cows were $2 lower. Slaughter bulls were $3 lower. Receipts included 80% 600 pounds and over, 14% 600 pounds and under, 6% cows and bulls. The feeder supply included 63% steers and 37% heifers.

Pairs: Per pair, Large frame 1 to 2, middle-aged, short and solid, 5 pairs 1392 lbs., 860.00. Calves, 165 lbs.

Slaughter cows: Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 63.00 to 65.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 53.00 to 58.00; high dressing, 59.00 to 62.00; low dressing, 45.00 to 50.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 64.00 to 68.00 (65.50); high dressing, 1 head, 74.50; low dressing, 54.00 to 60.00 (58.32).
