Missouri River Landowner Conservation Workshop set March 13

The first Missouri River Landowner Conservation Workshop will be held at the 4-H building located at 909 Whiting Drive in Yankton, S.D., March 13 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

This open house event is designed to be a fun and educational way to provide landowners with conservation options for their unique river front property as well as provide information on current and future Missouri River projects and issues. Represented will be federal, state, local, and private agencies or organizations from Nebraska and South Dakota involved with the Missouri National Recreational River. There will also be landowners giving accounts of their experiences and interests along the MNRR.

"This is an opportunity to speak with several agency representatives as well as share ideas with other local landowner/stakeholders," according to Theresa Smydra, coordinator for this event.

Various demonstrations, exhibits, and breakout sessions will be available throughout the day. There also will be a rainfall simulator demonstrating the effects crop residue has on soil erosion in crop fields.

There is no fee for this workshop and lunch will be available in the 4-H building.

For more information contact Theresa Smydra with Missouri River Futures at 402-254-6858 extension 114 or e-mail her through the website at www.missouririverfutures.com. A detailed schedule of events is posted on the website.
