Goldthwaite sheep sales

The Mills County Commission Co., Goldthwaite, Texas, March 7, reported receipts of 1,504 head of sheep and goats, compared to 1,318 head last week and 2,728 head last year, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, stocker and feeder lambs were $10 to $12 higher. Heavy weight slaughter lambs were steady, light weights were $10 to $15 higher. Stocker and feeder goats were not tested. Slaughter goats were $10 to $12 higher. Demand was very good. The supply included around 45% sheep including nearly 525 lambs. Prices per CWT unless specified.

Stock and feeder: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 75 to 90 lbs., 121.00 to 125.00; 90 to 100 lbs., 119.00 to 123.00. Dorper ewes, 90 to 150 lbs., 50.00 to 80.00; pairs, 57.00 to 72.00 per head. Dorper bucks, 100.00 to 280.00 per head. Barbados pairs, few 29.00 per head.

Slaughter lambs: Choice, 100 to 140 lbs., 80.00 to 91.00. Good and Choice 1 to 3, 40 to 85 lbs., 130.00 to 140.00, few to 145.00. Good, 40 to 85 lbs., 115.00 to 130.00. Slaughter ewes, Utility 1 to 3, Medium fleshy, 95 to 130 lbs., 38.00 to 47.00. Slaughter bucks, 160 to 220 lbs., 51.00 to 52.00. Barbados, lambs, 45 to 80 lbs., 118.00 to 130.00.

Slaughter goats: Kids, Selection 1, 40 to 60 lbs., 142.00 to 154.00; 60 to 80 lbs., 147.00 to 143.00. Selection 2, 60 to 80 lbs., 120.00 to 130.00. Nannies, Selection 1, 80 to 130 lbs., 40.00 to 58.00, thin 30.00 to 40.00. Billies, 90 to 180 lbs., 80.00 to 93.00. Muttons, Selection 1, 85 to 110 lbs., 90.00 to 97.00.

Replacement goats: Nannies, Selection 1, 80 to 125 lbs., 60.00 to 80.00. Pairs, 30.00 to 44.00 per head. Billies, Selection 1, 100 to 180 lbs., 87.00 to 122.00.
