Blue Valley Beef Revue will be held April 19

The Blue Valley Beef Revue, the longest continuous running spring beef show in Nebraska, is gearing up fir the 46th annual Beef Revue to be held April 19 at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds in Fairbury, according to Chad Schroeder, 2008 president of the show committee.

Breeds accepted at the show include: Shorthorn, Gelbvieh, Charolais, Simmental, Maine-Anjou, Angus and Hereford, with six heifer classes and five bull classes. All other registered cattle may show in their respective classes. Commercial and crossbred heifers may be shown only by 4-H and FFA exhibitors.

The market steers and heifers are progress shows limited to 4-H and FFA exhibitors who qualify for and meet 4-H and FFA requirements.

All exhibits must be in place and entered with the show committee by 8:30 a.m., on April 19. All market animals will be weighed from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. The grounds will be open April 18 for early arrivals.

The live show will begin by 10 a.m., with breeding heifers being shown first, followed by bulls and showmanship. Market animals will be the last show of the day.

Awards are sponsored for champions of the breeds and will be presented during the show. A $5 per head entry fee will be charged to help cover show expenses.
