Award winners from ASFMRA National Convention

The winners of several awards by the American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers were recognized. More than 400 agribusiness professionals at Ag Pro Outlook '08--The 78th Annual Meeting of the American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers in San Diego, Calif., on Feb. 17 to 20 joined in on the recognition. The meeting was held to recognize the achievements of members, and to discuss new trends and recent innovations in their profession.

The awards were presented as follows:

--2007 Farm Manager Of The Year, Richard J. Grever, AFM Illinois Chapter;

--2007 Gold Quill Award, April Beasley, James Nelson, Ruby Stroschein and Joel Hamilton;

--2007 H.E. Buck Stalcup Excellence In Education Award - Appraisal, Mark Lewis, ARA Texas Chapter;

--2007 H.E. Buck Stalcup Excellence In Education Award - Management, Terry Argotsinger, AFM, ARA Iowa Chapter;

--2007 Meritorious Service In Communications Award, Max Armstrong, Tribune Radio Network;

--2007 Carl F. Hertz Distinguished Service In Agriculture Award, National FFA Organization, Dr. Larry Case;

--2007 Early Career Award, Aaron Bierschwale, Texas Chapter;

--2007 D. Howard Doane Award Recognizing outstanding service, Harold D. Guither, Ph.D., AAC, Illinois Chapter;

--2007 Appraisal Professional Of The Year, James B. "Nardie" Vine, ARA and Lynda Vine, Texas Chapter;

--2007 Silver Plow Award 10 years of service, Donna R. Tiser, Louisiana Chapter Secretary;

--2007 Gold Plow Award, 20 years of service, Tony E. Windham, Ph.D., Arkansas Chapter Secretary; Stanley D. Miles, Oregon Chapter Secretary;

-Debra K. West Volunteer Service Award, Brenda DeVries, ARA, Montana Chapter;

ASFMRA represents more than 2,200 agribusiness professionals across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico, who provide farm or ranch management or rural appraisal services. Professional managers represent owners of over 25 million acres of U.S. farmland and provide the direct management of these operations. Professional rural appraisers provide valuation estimates on over 50 million acres of farm, ranch and natural resource lands each year.

Since 1929, the focus of the ASFMRA has been to create and maintain a professionally trained group of AFMs (Accredited Farm Managers), ARAs (Accredited Rural Appraisers), RPRAs (Real Property Review Appraisers), and AACs (Accredited Agricultural Consultants) who are qualified to provide expert guidance and assistance to owners and/or operators of agricultural lands and rural resource properties.
