Apache cattle sales report

Stockman's Livestock Inc., Apache, Okla., reported receipts of 3,038 head March 8, compared to 7,013 head last week and 4,692 head last year, according to the USDA to Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to last week, feeder steers were $1 to $2 lower. Feeder heifers were steady to $2 lower. Steer and heifer calves were $1 to $2 lower. Weigh-ups were average to gaunt. Demand for all classes of cattle was moderate to good. The supply included 55% steers, 44% heifers, 7% bulls and 79% over 600 pounds. Slaughter cows and bulls were $1 to $2 lower. A total of 280 cows and bulls sold with 60% going to packers.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 17 head, 1250 to 2225 lbs., 65.00 to 67.50; high dressing, 68.00 to 73.00; low dressing, 60.50 to 63.00.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 4 years old, 1025 to 1250 lbs., 3 to 5 months bred, average quality, 690.00 to 820.00; 5 to 6 years old, 1050 to 1275 lbs., 4 to 6 months bred, average quality, 720.00 to 920.00; 7 to 8 years old, 1025 to 1250 lbs., 4 to 8 months bred, average quality, 600.00 to 790.00.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 5 to 6 years old, 975 to 1300 lbs., with 100- to 185-lb. calves, average quality, 835.00 to 1040.00; 7 to 10 years old, 900 to 1100 lbs., with 100- to 200-lb. calves, average quality, 820.00 to 940.00.
