Wyobraska cattle sales reportThe combined sales volume of Wyoming, western Nebraska and western North and South Dakota auctions for the week ending March 1, totaled 1,550 head, compared to 8,500 head last week and 6,650 head last year, according to the USDA-Wyoming Department of Agriculture Market News, Torrington, Wyo. Compared to last week at Wyoming auctions, feeder steers and heifers were not well tested. Demand was moderate to good. Direct trading was slow with not enough sales reported for a good market test. Demand was moderate. Buyer inquiry was light to moderate on light offerings. Unless otherwise noted direct prices are current FOB with a 2 to 3% shrink or equivalent and with a 5 to 10 cent from base weight. Steers made up approximately 26% of the supply, heifers 74%, with 95% over 600 pounds. Direct sales accounted for 1295 head of the total receipts. Steers: Auctions, Medium to large frame 1, 270 lbs., 136.00; 450 to 500 lbs., 125.00 to 127.00; 660 lbs., 112.50; 760 to 800 lbs., 98.00. Direct, Medium to large frame 1, FOB price, 700 to 750 lbs., 100.00 to 105.00; 820 lbs., 97.32. Delivered price, 675 lbs., 108.00. Heifers: Auctions, Medium to large frame 1, 485 lbs., 109.00. Medium to large frame 1 to 2, 400 lbs., 116.00; 490 to 500 lbs., 101.00 to 102.00. Direct, Medium to large frame 1, FOB price, 700 to 730 lbs., 92.00 to 98.00; 825 lbs., 88.00.
