Texhoma cattle sales report

The Texhoma Livestock Auction, Texhoma, Okla., reported receipts of 2,872 head March 5, compared to 2,425 head last week and 2,014 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers were $2 to $3 lower. There was a limited test on steer and heifer calves. Demand was moderate for all classes. Fill was average, few full. The supply included 78% steers, 22% heifers with 94% over 600 pounds. Slaughter cows and bulls were steady. A total of 104 cows and bulls sold with 50% going to packers.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 28 head, 467 lbs., 139.00; 11 head, 515 to 542 lbs., 127.00 to 133.00 (128.49); 552 to 568 lbs., 114.50 to 121.00 (119.50); 15 head, 649 lbs., 109.50; 662 to 676 lbs., 107.00 to 109.00 (107.76); 700 to 74 lbs., 103.00 to 104.50 (103.92); 759 to 785 lbs., 101.00 to 104.00 (101.57); 804 to 842 lbs., 95.00 to 100.50 (97.63); 356 head, 862 lbs., 95.60; 57 head, 942 lbs., 93.00; 61 head, 907 lbs., 97.75 value added. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 12 head, 573 lbs., 114.00; 14 head, 607 lbs., 107.00; 37 head, 917 lbs., 91.50. Medium and large frame 2, 12 head, 466 to 495 lbs., 121.00 to 125.00 (121.96); 659 to 687 lbs., 99.00 to 102.50 (100.68); 13 head, 734 lbs., 97.50; 11 head, 847 lbs., 95.50.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 2 head, 75 to 80% lean, 1400 to 1475 lbs., 52.50 to 53.75. Boners, 9 head, 80 to 85% lean, 1000 to 1225 lbs., 52.50 to 53.25; high dressing, 57.00 to 57.50; low dressing, 47.50 to 51.00. Lean, 29 head, 85 to 90% lean, 900 to 1200 lbs., 50.00 to 53.50; high dressing, 54.00 to 56.00; low dressing, 45.50 to 49.75. Light, 7 head, 85 to 90% lean, 850 to 975 lbs., 43.00 to 46.50.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 7 head, 1400 to 2175 lbs., 64.00 to 67.00; high dressing, 69.50 to 75.00; low dressing, 58.50.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1, 3 years old, 975 lbs., 7 to 8 months bred, average blacks, 960.00.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1, 2 years old, 950 to 1025 lbs., with 80- to 125-lb. calves, high quality, 1350.00 to 1440.00.
