TDA's Food and Fiber Pavilion wins statewide, international awardsTexas The Texas Department of Agriculture's Food and Fiber Pavilion at the State Fair of Texas, sponsored by Borden in 2007, took home an unprecedented six awards at a recent statewide competition. TDA won the top prize in each category entered. "We're very honored to receive this recognition," said Commissioner Todd Staples. "The Food and Fiber Pavilion at the State Fair of Texas is proof TDA employees are dedicated to promoting all things Texan. The diversity of these awards reflects their commitment to our industry." The Texas Association of Fairs and Events Award of Excellence Competition recognizes fairs, festivals and events for outstanding promotions and superior examples of promotional and media initiatives. TAF&E's Marketing and Communications Awards allow members to learn from one another and share ideas while also providing an opportunity to recognize the efforts of the staff, sponsors, volunteers and supporters who make fairs and events possible. The awards were presented at a special ceremony in Austin on Jan. 12. Selection criteria was based on message clarity, design and layout, creativity or uniqueness, professional content, measurable results and overall appeal of each entry. TDA received awards for its participation in 2006 and 2007 in the following categories: --Best Other Merchandise: The GO TEXAN Store grocery bag; --Best Newsletter: March 2006 GO TEXAN Infoletter; --Best Miscellaneous Printed Materials: Food and Fiber Pavilion recruitment folder and inserts; --Best Promotional Poster: Commemorative poster; --Best Agricultural Education Program: Kitchen Craft Texas 4-H "Heat it Up!"
