Springfield dairy cattle sale

The Springfield Livestock Marketing Center, Springfield, Mo., reported receipts of 776 head Feb. 26, compared to 579 head last month and 1,018 head last year, according to the Missouri Department of Agriculture Market News, Jefferson City, Mo.

Demand and supply was moderate with 15% springer heifers, 10% bred heifers, 35% open heifers, 6% fresh and milking cows, 10% bred and springer cows, and 10% calves. Holsteins unless noted otherwise. Prices per head.

Springer heifers: Bred seven to nine months, Supreme 1900.00 to 2425.00, Crossbreds 1750.00 to 2200.00. Approved 1425.00 to 1875.00, Crossbreds 1350.00 to 1600.00. Medium 1075.00 to 1375.00, Crossbreds 1125.00 to 1325.00. Common 760.00 to 925.00, Crossbreds 500.00 to 1010.00. Heifers, bred three to six months, Supreme 1875.00 to 2275.00, Crossbreds 1900.00 to 2125.00. Approved 1350.00 to 1850.00, Crossbreds 1525.00 to 1750.00. Medium 1000.00 to 1325.00, Crossbreds 975.00 to 1125.00. Common 550.00 to 925.00, Crossbreds 700.00 to 925.00. Bred one to three months, Supreme individual 1925.00. Approved 1400.00 to 1775.00. Medium 1050.00 to 1275.00.

Open heifers: Approved 200 to 400 lbs., 530.00 to 790.00, Crossbreds 500.00 to 650.00; 400 to 600 lbs., 1090.00 to 1160.00; 600 to 800 lbs., 1160.00 to 1325.00. Medium 400 to 600 lbs., 775.00 to 900.00, lot of 12 at 559 lbs., 1135.00, Crossbreds 445.00 to 1000.00

Replacement cows: Fresh and milking cows, Supreme individual 1775.00. Approved 1325.00 to 1460.00. Medium 900.00 to 1250.00. Common 535.00 to 880.00.

Springer cows: Bred seven to nine months, Supreme individual 1585.00, individual Crossbred 1700.00. Approved 1250.00 to 1450.00. Medium, few 1025.00 to 1075.00. Common 875.00 to 990.00, Crossbreds 680.00 to 975.00.

Cows: Bred one to six months, Approved to 1285.00 to 1625.00. Medium 1000.00 to 1285.00. Common 880.00 to 970.00.

Baby calves: Holstein heifers 400.00 to 470.00. Holstein bulls 70.00 to 110.00, Small 35.00 to 50.00. Crossbred heifers 130.00 to 250.00. Crossbred bulls 45.00 to 105.00. Beef cross bulls 60.00 to 115.00.
