Huron cattle sales report

The Bales Continental Commission Co., Huron, S.D., reported receipts of 2,868 head March 4, compared 3,217 head last week and 1,923 head last year, according the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News, Sioux Falls, S.D.

Compared last week, feeder steers sold steady $3 lower. Feeder heifers up 750 pounds sold steady $3 lower, and heifers 750 pounds and over sold steady $2 higher. Demand was good with many load lots in the offering. Price was driven by the quality of the cattle and flesh. Steers comprised 58% of the run, heifers 42%, with 96% of the run was over 600 pounds.
